FOX BUSINESS NETWORK TOPS CNBC IN BACK-TO-BACK QUARTERS FOR FIRST TIME EVER

 

FBN’s Business Day Delivered Highest-Rated Quarter in Network History 

Achieves Sixth Consecutive Monthly Win over CNBC in Business Day Viewers

FOX Business Network (FBN) scored its first back-to-back quarterly win over CNBC in Business Day viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research, marking its sixth month as the number one business network on television.

During a quarter that featured extensive breaking business news, including; the Snapchat IPO, Federal Reserve rate hike and the Dow Jones Industrial Average hitting new records, FBN achieved its highest-rated quarter ever with 212,000 total viewers. CNBC, by comparison pulled in 16 percent less with 183,000 total viewers during Business Day. In the demo, FBN earned 31,000, just shy of CNBC’s 35,000. It was FBN’s highest rated quarter in 25-54 viewers, while CNBC hit its second lowest-rated quarter in the demo ever.

Lou Dobbs Tonight, Varney & Co, along with CAVUTO: Coast to Coast were once again the top three business programs in financial news, with Dobbs also ranking number one in the demo as well. Additionally, FBN’s core business programming outpaced CNBC in total viewers with Neil Cavuto and Trish Regan’s Intelligence Report also sweeping their CNBC competition in the demo for the quarter for the first time.

During the month of March, FBN delivered a 19 percent advantage over CNBC with 204,000 Business Day viewers, and its first-ever tie in the demo with 29,000. In addition, FBN had five of the top six business programs on cable across the board with Dobbs, Varney, Cavuto, Regan and Liz Claman’s Countdown to the Closing Bell earning the top spots All of FBN’s business programming saw double digit increases year over year, while CNBC tied for its third lowest rated month ever.
