FBN Claims Eight of the Top 15 Business Programs on Cable

NEW YORK, NY – October 28, 2019 – FOX Business Network (FBN) maintained its dominance as the leader in business news for the month of October 2019 delivering the top two programs on business television, according to Nielsen Media Research. In the midst of the network’s 12th anniversary and brand refresh roll out,Lou Dobbs Tonight (weekdays, 7-8 PM/ET) marked 42 straight months as the number one program on business television, followed byVarney & Co. (weekdays, 9A-12 PM/ET) as the number one program during Business Day.

Stuart Varney’s signature market-open program Varney & Co.  averaged 243,000 total viewers compared to CNBC’s 220,000, once again making it the top markets program in the country for seven of the past 10 month this year. Lou Dobbs’ eponymous evening programLou Dobbs Tonight continued to dominate the category with 378,000 total viewers for the month of October, notching 42 consecutive months as the number one show in business television and 46 months trouncing CNBC’s 7PM/ET hour. The program also delivered a 210 percent advantage over CNBC in its timeslot and saw an audience increase of 3 percent year over year.

In addition to Varney and Dobbs’ strong performances, FBN’s Business Day and post-market programming including After the Bell(4-5 PM/ET), CAVUTO: Coast to Coast (12-2 PM/ET), The Claman Countdown (3-4 PM/ET), The Evening Edit(6-7 PM/ET), Making Money with Charles Payne (2-3 PM/ET), andTrish Regan Primetime (8-9 PM/ET) all nabbed placements among the 15 most-watched business programs in cable.

Amid volatile market swings, Elizabeth MacDonald’s post-market coverage at 6PM withThe Evening Edit once again outpaced CNBC’s signature show Mad Moneywith Jim Cramer for the second consecutive month. MacDonald’s program nabbed 161,000 viewers compared to the CNBC’s 133,000, seeing a 21 percent advantage over Cramer.During pre-market coverage,FBN:AMdelivered its highest rated month since September 2018, seeing audience increases year over year in both total viewers and the key demo.

Year to date, FBN has delivered four of the top six most upscale cable news & business programs on television with A25-54 including Maria Bartiromo’s influential programMornings with Maria (6-9 AM/ET), CAVUTO: Coast to Coast, Making Money with Charles Payne, and After the Bellaccording to Nielsen data.Scoring 193,000 total viewers in Business Day, the network also posted strong audience increases month over month across all programming for both total viewership and the A25-54 demographic.
