FOX BUSINESS NETWORK TOPS CNBC FOR RECORD FIFTH CONSECUTIVE MONTH

‘Lou Dobbs Tonight’ Hits 10 Months as #1 News Program in Business Television 

February Marks Second Highest Rated Month Ever in Total Day Viewers 

FOX Business Network (FBN) continued its streak as the number one business network on cable finishing February ahead of CNBC for a record fifth consecutive month in business day viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. February marked FBN’s second highest rated month in total day viewers, besting CNBC in the category for the third time ever.

During a month of substantial economic news, FBN saw a 20% advantage over CNBC in business day viewers and a 4% advantage in total day viewers. Additionally FBN marked double-digit year-over-year growth while CNBC posted double-digit losses in all categories.

In business day viewership, FBN was up 59% in total viewers (218,000 P2+) and up 25% in the demo (30,000 A25-54) compared to the same month last year. CNBC showed a 14% decline in total viewers (182,000) and a 21% decline in the demo (33,000) for the same time period. In total day viewership, FBN was up 73% in total viewers (170,000) and 32% in the 25-54 demo (25,000).

FBN’s entire slate of programs saw a ratings increase compared to the same month last year in total viewers. Lou Dobbs Tonight marked its 10th month atop the business news programming, up 146% in total viewers and 111% in the demo. Morning with Maria continues its year-over-year growth up 60% in viewers and 45% in the demo, delivering the program’s second-highest rated month in the demo ever.

Additionally, several programs topped CNBC in both viewers and the demo for the month including Cavuto: Coast to Coast, Intelligence Report with Trish Regan, Making Money with Charles Payne and Lou Dobbs Tonight. Varney & Co bested CNBC in total viewers and was up 50% over same time last year. FBN’s signature primetime program, Strange Inheritance, also performed strong, boasting a 62% gain in total viewers and 56% in the demo.
